Monica Brooks @monicamonicaman contributes the track ‘Morph For Puddles’ to our recent ‘Worlds Only World’ compilation, a piano improvisation based on pop song chord changes.

She notes: “It was recorded in response to a call for tunes to highlight solidarity with Palestinians. The world balks in witnessing the horror of the genocide of Palestinians, while simultaneously watching the complicity and inaction of our supposed leaders whom serve to protect a global corporatocracy instead.”

Monica Brooks is a composer, improviser, and sound artist, hailing from the Blue Mountains. Over the last twenty years she has developed her connection to improvisation as a compositional methodology. Her artistic interests are occupied by landscapes and conservation; maps, and the idea of ‘Hjemfalden’, or, as can be reconceived as belonging, landscapes, loss and love.

Brooks has been involved with projects such as Great Waitress with Magda Mayas and Laura Altman, West Head Project with Jim Denley and Dale Gorfinkel, composition for choirs in Sydney, and scores for short films. Her current projects rely on solo piano for compositions, and folk harmony in drone music using accordion, often in churches as a reverberant community spaces.

Jenny Trinh is a Western Sydney artist who performs solo as Wytchings @wytchings. For our new compilation, ‘Worlds Only World’, she contributes ‘Crop Circles’, a rework of a demo made for her first EP ‘Neptune’ back in 2019. She describes it as “a track about walking through the rain at night and mistaking the streetlights for something from the great unknown!”

Creating dreamy, film-inspired sounds evoking that of space and water, Jenny has collaborated with artists like Red Rey, Saskia Ellis & Jada Narkle to create accompanying soundscapes for their movement pieces, which have been showcased at Soft Centre, Sydney World Pride, Yirramboi Festival and Marrugeku. In addition to that, she sound designed Liquid Homelands, a queer, experimental radio project on FBi Radio’s Race Matters.

In addition to her solo work, she is in the band Heart Armour with two longtime friends Kashif (Kash Bhai) & Zac (roomers), and is a member of compilation curators Worlds Only @w0rlds0nly.

AnSo @an.so.ie contributes ‘silent destruction’ to our new compilation, ‘Worlds Only World’, a track which was originally a reflection on climate crisis which they say “now seems like nothing compared to genocide. They will try to remain silent in their destruction however we will not.”

A self described sculptor of sound existing and creating on Gadigal land, South Korean artist, AnSo’s works are ever-evolving, like a blob of clay on a throwing wheel, the hands of the
sculptor feeling, moulding, collapsing, rising.

A very long time ago, Oscar Key Sung performed live on the last New Weird Australia radio show on @fbiradio. We’re stoked to reconnect as he contributes the track ‘last day of june’ to our new compilation, ‘Worlds Only World’.

Oscar Key Sung is the primary moniker of Melbourne born independent artist Oscar Vincente S-Thorn. Offering over ten years of exciting music and counting, he describes himself as “an influential shapeshifter who has probably inspired your favourite artist”.
